My love of music
Music is just like the air around me all the time. In my mom’s opinion， I was raised up by music and I live for music.
My home is always full of music. My mom told me she used to listen to music when she was pregnant with me. Soon after I was born, she used the tape-recorder to play piano music, light music and children’s songs. When I was an infant, my dad took some photos of my drinking milk with the feeding bottle while I was lying in the pram or sitting in the walker, listening to music quietly. Later, when I was about 2 years old, my mom began to play songs sung by Song Zuying, Jolin, Carpenters, Michael Jackson, John Denver, M2M, SHE, Jay Chou, The Eagles and other singers with the CD player and TV. Then whenever and wherever the music started, I would twist my little body and shook my little hands with the beats, enjoying the beautiful melody a lot. Afterwards, I was able to play music and choose my favorite music, and my mom bought so many CDs and VCDs by the singers I liked that they took up too much space of our bookcase, causing no place to put books. When I studied at the primary school, as soon as I got home from school, I played my favorite songs and sang along. I was used to living with music.
In addition to the music of CDs, I like singing the movie songs, especially the songs of the Disney movies. It is a bit of serendipity that I encounter the best music movies —— High School Musical，a series of music movies made by Disney. Throughout the plotline, the high school students' romantic love is intertwined with a variety of music performances. Before I watched the movies High School Musical, I’d never thought that music could be performed in many kinds of novel ways in the ordinary life. Their beautiful voices and cool dances inspired me profoundly. Not only their excellent solos and sprightly duos, but also their spectacular group dancing and singing impressed me deeply. Because I was so fascinated by the movie music, I decided to learn the songs and dances in them. The most typical scene of High school musical 1 is that at the end of the movie, the whole Wildcats basketball team, cheering squad and the students in the gym started to sing and dance wildly We are all in this together. So in my junior school's Class Chorus Competition, I became the director and leading singer, and chose this song for our final competition. To organize 66 students to dance and sing professionally needs substantial?collaboration and is not an easy task. I spent lots of time studying and improving the dancing, which could be easier for my classmates to learn. During the class break, after school and even at the noon break, we all practiced this song vigorously. Finally, when we performed in front of all the students and teachers in our school on the stage, we caused a sensational influence. My class was the first to perform the musical in Class Chorus Competition in my school，and the judges and the audience couldn't imagine how we amateurish students could perform such a professional musical so well. Definitely, we won the first place. I was so satisfied that my effort and all my classmates’ effort finally came to fruition.
Besides this time, I also sang You are the music in me with two other girls. We sang different tunes in harmony, and this required the exact pitch. Another music movie The pitch perfect let me know A Cappella for the first time. We can use our mouth to simulate different instruments, which is really cool！ So during my high school, in my music charity club, our members liked to rehearse A Cappella, such as Bad Romance by Lady gaga, Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus, and Baby by Justin Bieber. All these popular songs, which are transformed into A Cappella version, gave people fresh impression. I also learned a song Cups in which I used cups to create beats to accompany my voice. It's really exciting for me to keep trying out something new and meaningful.
Singing seems like my instinct and music flows in my blood. As a little child, I showed a special sensitivity towards music. At 5 or so, I often gave concerts at home and my parents were my big fans. At 6, I was voluntary to learn the piano at Dongyi Piano Art Centre founded by the world-famous pianist Liu Shikun. Mostly influenced by Jay Chou, I learnt to play the guitar through videos online. I also learnt to play the drums and bass by myself. Interest is the best teacher and it guides me to master the skills of playing them and have great fun in playing them. Thus, I grow up happily with music day by day.
My music experiences
Thanks to music, I got lots of chances to perform on the stage, make more new friends, experience more new things and share the art and joy with more people.
The first time I performed on the stage was when I played the part of the little girl in the short act Pull up the radish the day before Children’s Day in 2001. It’s said that I acted very vividly just as a person really pulling up the radish in the field and sang very beautifully. I remember this acting by looking at he photos taken by my teachers and listening to some people’s description. At that time, my mom hurried to watch me perform from work and forgot to take a camera. I don’t remember how I exactly felt?in the first public performance.
I can’t forget my first solo on the stage. At 4, I first sang a solo “Hana no Ko Lunlun” in the local TV show. Maybe I was so young that I didn’t know stage fright at all. I remember clearly that I wasn’t a bit nervous and I enjoyed the spotlight following me round the stage and the audience’s cheering. It was my first success on the stage I can remember and I fell in love with singing from the bottom of my heart.
From then on, I started to take part in lots of talent competitions which were held in Huizhou, Shenzhen and Beijing and I always won the first place. I was called “Little Song Zuying” after I sang the song “XIAO BEI LOU”at 8. At Huizhou Folk Music New Year’s Concerts and Huizhou Liu Shikun Piano Art New Year’s Concerts, more and more people got to know me and kept my voice, my singing and my name in mind. At the same time, I was invited to sing songs as a soloist at quite a few parties and ceremonies.
Children’s Day was usually my busy performance day. There were always never-ending performances inside and outside school. At first, I looked forward to the coming of Children’s Day, but later I didn’t expect its coming anxiously because of endless rehearsals and performances. I remember giving 3 concerts at the West Lake Grand Theatre of Huizhou on Children’s Day in 2009. I sang 4 songs in each concert and felt really tired when the third concert was over at 9：30 pm. However, I was acknowledged as the best singer.
According to the theme of the party or concert, I performed different types of songs, such as XIAO BEI LOU, HAO YUN LAI, WO XIANG XIN，XIAO BAI CHUAN, Tell me why, Edelweiss, Do-Re-Mi, Pretty boy, Sparks fly, My love, Together, Rolling in the deep, just tonight, Pie Jesu and so on. ?
Mostly I am a soloist, however, I am crazy about choruses and musicals. I was not only a leading singer but also a director and planner in different choruses and musicals. I?was a leading singer of Dongyi Piano Art Centre Chorus, Huizhou City Children's Art Troupe and the Art Troupe of Guangdong Huiyang Senior Middle School from 5 to 15 years old. I put my heart into my performance in the musical Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at Shenzhen Grand Theatre on June 26th, 2015. I played the role of Alice and I forgot myself and became real Alice on the stage playing games, singing and dancing. To my pride, the audience thought highly of our performance.
Because of my fervor for music, I always wanted to have my own band. As soon as I went to the IEE, I struggled to find my band members. Luckily, the former band’s guitar player came to me. He said that he heard I had a beautiful voice and he wanted to set up a band with me. At that time I felt so excited that I acted as a talent scout in order to find my like-minded band members. Very soon, we found the companions who had the same music passion and music talents. Our band was formally established on September 16th, 2013 and was called “Carnival”. We made detailed plans for our rehearsal and performance. We rehearsed and practiced very carefully and regularly three times a week. After some people heard us sing and watched us rehearse, they talked about our band with others excitedly. Gradually our band was paid much attention to and became more and more famous inside and outside our school. Therefore, we were invited to perform at different kinds of parties and shows. There was always much sparkle in our performance, so our band was always the highlight of the shows. At the foundation ceremony of National Association of Student Councils, I led my band to put on performances and I acted as the leading singer. Because I adapted the original version of the popular song Rolling in the deep in a special and charming way with my guitarist, the audience was shocked by my high notes and our perfect adaptation. Our adaptation singing became a hit for sure. Why can our band become successful？ The reason is that we extremely enjoy playing music together and letting everyone hear our music.
In the past 17 years, I have got a great deal of help, encouragement, support, care and love from the people of different ages and from different vocations, and I have also made some progress. I feel very lucky and grateful. I am willing to do what I can to help?those who are in need.
My music creation
Every song is a story and it can remind people of the past events and give them a vision of happiness. Sometimes it can give people the power of encouragement. I remember the first time I touched Taylor Swift was her hit song you belong with me. It doesn't require any vocal techniques, just bucolic and lively melody with unequivocal and simple words to account for the everyday life and the feeling of falling in love with someone. I realized that a successful singer not only needs an outstanding voice, but also needs an ability to create his/her own music. From then on, every time after school, I grabbed my guitar and practiced it vigorously. The guitar is a more convenient instrument for me to write and perform my original songs than the piano. I was resolute to practice harder, even though my fingertips hurt for a long time, I didn't stop playing the guitar. My volition led me to circumvent these hurdles—— bleeding fingertips, weary arms, paralyzed legs because of sitting so long ——I accomplished what I deserved.
Without any pause or errors, I could play the guitar with a variety of music styles. Certainly, it was not enough to enhance your guitar skills. The paramount part of writing songs is your creativity. To me, everything around me can be my inspiration: the angry faces of my teacher； the gossips that spread around the girls; the first fresh green leaves of the new spring；the annoying trumpet of the monstrous vehicles… Yes, all these things that you may consider as inestimable and trivial trifles are all valuable trove for me. I scribbled notes in my little notebook wherever I was and whenever I had new ideas. On my way home, I liked to hum out impromptu tune that fitted my lyrics. At that time, I totally immersed in my own fantastic world, and my brain was filled with resort melodies so that I nearly wanted to scuttle, with the wings on my shoulders, I roared freely in my music world.
When my first original song was completed, I performed it to my family members and their feedback encouraged me to continue writing songs. As time passed by, I decided to write some songs that could mollify people's emotional pain. As my adolescence was involved in the whirlpools of love and hate swiftly and inevitably, I mostly touched the feeling that many people suffered from their relationship with their lovers, and the happiness they spellbound in the tenderness and sweetness of date. I poured more sensitive emotion in my lyrics, hoping to arouse and touch listeners’ deep heart and true feeling. I believed this was what a successful and popular song should be.
My music style exploration
I am trying to explore a type of music which is the close integration of pop and rock, Chinese and western music, rap and country music, classical and techno with a powerful and unconstrained style and the creation of the unique singing style. So I try to appreciate any style of music and try to practice them. I distinguish their different traits, and guess what will happen if these two or three styles are put together. Unexpected discovery always comes from risky synthesized experiments.
I am sure the way to this goal is lengthy and nearly like a mystery, but I won't give up. Audaciously moving towards our dream is our purport to live on this earth. Despite others’ suspicious attitude, I just persevere in my music style exploration and walk on my own road —— to found the music style that only belongs to Crystal.
My ultimate music dream
Since I was born, music has brought me so many fantastic things which are more than I can say. I can’t imagine what my life will be like without music. I really enjoy breathing the air filled with music. No matter what I will major in, I won’t stop making my music dream come true. I wish to become a shining girl with many music talents.
I do believe there will be a type of music created by Crystal. If I hold on to my dream, I must be able to see the rainbow after the rain. I do do believe I will have my own sky in the music world.
In order to let the world know “I am Crystal”， I will cling to my faith and passion for music in all my life. Music belongs with me and I belong to music.

除了 CD 里的音乐，我还喜欢唱电影歌曲，尤其是迪士尼电影的歌曲。很偶然地，我遇到了最好的音乐电影系列——迪士尼制作的《歌舞青春》。在整个剧情中，高中生们的浪漫爱情与各种音乐表演交织在一起。在看《歌舞青春》之前，我从未想过在日常生活中音乐可以有这么多新颖的表演方式。他们美妙的歌声和酷炫的舞蹈给了我深刻的启发。不仅是他们精彩的独唱和活泼的二重唱，还有他们壮观的集体歌舞都让我印象深刻。因为我非常着迷于电影里的音乐，所以我决定学习里面的歌曲和舞蹈。《歌舞青春 1》最经典的场景是在电影结尾，整个野猫篮球队、啦啦队和体育馆里的学生们一起疯狂地唱跳《我们在一起》。所以在我初中的班级合唱比赛中，我担任了导演和领唱，并选择了这首歌作为我们的决赛曲目。组织 66 个学生专业地唱歌跳舞需要大量的协作，这可不是一件容易的事。我花了很多时间研究和改进舞蹈动作，这样我的同学们就能更容易地学会。课间休息、放学后，甚至午休时间，我们都在努力练习这首歌。最后，当我们在全校师生面前的舞台上表演时，引起了轰动。我们班是学校班级合唱比赛中第一个表演音乐剧的，评委和观众都不敢相信我们这些业余学生能把音乐剧表演得这么专业。当然，我们获得了第一名。我很满意，我和同学们的努力终于有了成果。

我的音乐经历

我第一次登台表演是在 2001 年儿童节前一天，我在短剧《拔萝卜》中扮演小女孩。据说我表演得非常生动，就像真的在地里拔萝卜一样，而且唱歌也很好听。我通过老师拍的照片和听别人的描述来回忆这次表演。当时，妈妈从工作单位匆匆赶来看我表演，都忘了带相机。我不记得第一次公开表演时具体是什么感受了。
我忘不了我第一次在舞台上独唱的经历。4 岁的时候，我第一次在当地的电视节目中独唱了《花仙子之歌》。也许是因为我太小了，根本不知道什么是怯场。我清楚地记得我一点都不紧张，我很享受舞台上追随着我的聚光灯和观众的欢呼声。这是我记忆中第一次在舞台上获得成功，从那时起我就从心底爱上了唱歌。
从那以后，我开始参加在惠州、深圳和北京举办的很多才艺比赛，而且总是获得第一名。8 岁的时候，我唱了《小背篓》后，被大家称为“小宋祖英”。在惠州民间音乐新年音乐会和惠州刘诗昆钢琴艺术新年音乐会上，越来越多的人认识了我，记住了我的声音、我的演唱和我的名字。同时，我还被邀请在很多聚会和仪式上独唱。
儿童节通常是我忙碌的表演日。学校内外总是有没完没了的表演。一开始，我期待儿童节的到来，但后来因为没完没了的排练和表演，我不再急切地盼望它的到来了。我记得 2009 年儿童节那天，我在惠州西湖大剧院举办了 3 场音乐会。每场音乐会我唱 4 首歌，晚上 9 点半第三场音乐会结束时，我真的感觉很累。然而，我被公认为是最优秀的歌手。
根据聚会或音乐会的主题，我演唱不同类型的歌曲，比如《小背篓》《好运来》《我相信》《小白船》《Tell me why》《雪绒花》《哆来咪》《Pretty boy》《Sparks fly》《My love》《Together》《Rolling in the deep》《Just tonight》《Pie Jesu》等等。
大多数时候我是独唱，但我也热衷于合唱和音乐剧。从 5 岁到 15 岁，我不仅是东艺钢琴艺术中心合唱团、惠州市儿童艺术团和广东惠阳高级中学艺术团的领唱，还是不同合唱和音乐剧的导演和策划者。2015 年 6 月 26 日，我在深圳大剧院全身心投入到音乐剧《爱丽丝梦游仙境》的表演中。我扮演爱丽丝，在舞台上我忘记了自己，真的变成了爱丽丝，玩游戏、唱歌、跳舞。让我自豪的是，观众对我们的表演评价很高。

每一首歌都是一个故事，它能让人们回忆起过去的事情，给他们带来幸福的憧憬。有时候，它能给人们鼓励的力量。我记得我第一次接触泰勒·斯威夫特是她的热门歌曲《You Belong With Me》。这首歌不需要任何声乐技巧，只有田园般活泼的旋律和直白简单的歌词，描述着日常生活和爱上某人的感觉。我意识到，一个成功的歌手不仅需要有出色的嗓音，还需要有创作自己音乐的能力。从那时起，每天放学后，我都会拿起吉他努力练习。对我来说，吉他比钢琴更便于创作和表演原创歌曲。我下定决心更加努力地练习，即使指尖疼了很长时间，我也没有停止弹吉他。我的意志让我克服了这些障碍——指尖流血、手臂酸痛、长时间坐着导致双腿麻木——我做到了我应该做的。
我可以毫无停顿和失误地用各种音乐风格弹奏吉他。当然，仅仅提高吉他技巧是不够的。创作歌曲最重要的部分是创造力。对我来说，我周围的一切都可以成为我的灵感来源：老师愤怒的脸；女生们之间传播的八卦；新春的第一片嫩绿的叶子；那些巨大车辆讨厌的喇叭声……是的，所有这些你可能认为微不足道的小事，对我来说都是宝贵的财富。无论我在哪里，只要有新的想法，我就会在我的小笔记本上匆匆记下笔记。在回家的路上，我喜欢即兴哼出适合我歌词的曲调。那时，我完全沉浸在自己美妙的世界里，我的脑海里充满了各种旋律，以至于我几乎想插上翅膀飞奔起来，在我的音乐世界里自由翱翔。
当我的第一首原创歌曲完成后，我为家人表演了这首歌，他们的反馈鼓励我继续创作歌曲。随着时间的推移，我决定创作一些能够抚慰人们情感伤痛的歌曲。因为我的青春期不可避免地陷入了爱与恨的漩涡中，我深刻体会到很多人在恋爱关系中所遭受的痛苦，以及他们沉浸在约会的温柔与甜蜜中的幸福。我在歌词中倾注了更细腻的情感，希望能够唤起和触动听众内心深处的真实感受。我相信这才是一首成功且受欢迎的歌曲应该具备的特质。
我的音乐风格探索
我正在努力探索一种将流行音乐与摇滚、中西方音乐、说唱与乡村音乐、古典音乐与电子音乐紧密融合的音乐类型，要有一种大气奔放的风格，并创造出独特的演唱风格。所以我尝试欣赏各种风格的音乐，并努力练习。我分辨它们不同的特点，想象如果将两种或三种风格结合在一起会产生什么样的效果。意想不到的发现总是来自大胆的综合实验。
我知道实现这个目标的道路漫长且几乎像个谜团，但我不会放弃。勇敢地朝着我们的梦想前进是我们活在这个世界上的意义。尽管别人持怀疑态度，我还是会坚持探索我的音乐风格，走我自己的路——创造出只属于克里斯托（Crystal）的音乐风格。
我最终的音乐梦想
自从我出生以来，音乐给我带来了太多美好的东西，多得我都无法用言语表达。我无法想象没有音乐的生活会是什么样。我真的很享受呼吸充满音乐的空气。无论我将来学什么专业，我都不会停止实现我的音乐梦想。我希望成为一个拥有多种音乐才华的闪亮女孩。
我坚信会有一种由克里斯托创作的音乐。如果我坚持我的梦想，我一定能在雨后看到彩虹。我真的相信我会在音乐世界里拥有属于自己的一片天空。
为了让世界知道“我是克里斯托”，我会一生坚守我对音乐的信念和热情。音乐与我相伴，我属于音乐。
